This elegant piece offers timeless sophistication and a delicate, refined aesthetic.

Details & Dimensions
  • Artisan Silk: This kimono is made of a fine kinsha silk with a solid red lining which indicates that the garment is likely to date prior to World War II and made from a quality of silk that was not widely available after the war. To create the shibori design, each square was hand tied to create a resistance to the dye. White silk would have first been dyed a soft pale blue, then the knots would have been tied and the fabric dyed a second time to create the rich purple. The high quality of artisanship can be seen by an examination of the seams and the exactitude by which the design matches across the seams.
  • Color and Pattern: A soft pale blue against a rich purple background. The shibori design creates purple arabesques.
  • One Size Fits Most: Shoulder width: 23 inches, Length: 42 inches The versatile T-shape with dropped shoulders accommodates all body types and genders. The sleeves are approximately 11 inches wide and have the traditional kimono opening at the under arm to accommodate multiple layers of robes.
