Description

Federal style architecture emerged in the late 18th and early 19th century in the United States. It was characterized by symmetry, classical details, and inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman architecture. Federal style buildings had rectangular shapes, painted exteriors, tall and narrow windows, and flat or low-pitched roofs. Inside, they featured high ceilings and ornate woodwork in spacious, well-lit rooms.
